Laois Injury Clinic Orthotics Service
What are Orthotics?
Custom orthotics are prescribed insoles for all types of footwear. They are designed to treat bio-mechanical disorders of the feet. Left undiagnosed these disorders may have a negative impact on your knees, hips, back and neck, causing pain. Unlike ‘over the counter’ orthotics that have little or no medical benefit, we dispense ‘Custom Orthotics’ only. We specialise in adult’s and children’s Orthotics which are VHI, Vivas and Quinn Direct approved.
Why might you need Orthotics?
Poor function of the feet can lead to foot pain, knee pain, back pain, shin splints, ankle sprains or postural problems and anyone suffering from these problems or ‘Flat feet’, ‘Achilles Tendonitis’, ‘Plantar Fasciitis’, and ‘Bunions’ may need Orthotics.
Why is TOG GaitScan so important?
Your foot is in contact with the ground for about 0.8 of a second when walking and about 0.25 seconds when running. Imagine trying to determine normal or abnormal foot function with the naked eye in a quarter of a second? This is far too difficult for even the most experienced practitioner. The GaitScan system records your timing sequences during gait as you walk or run across a pressure plate. This enables your practitioner to have a clear picture of your foot mechanics and determine whether you would benefit from wearing custom made foot Orthotics.
TOG GaitScan System.
This Diagnostic www.togorthotics.com tool has been specifically engineered to assist in the assessment and diagnosis of our patient’s foot bio-mechanics.
The TOG GaitScan system measures the distribution of force throughout a patient’s foot during each step, identifying high pressure areas and gait abnormalities. Our system is equipped with enough sensors and speed to accurately graph pressure exerted during the stance phase of the gait cycle during both walking and running. This new information allows us to provide our patients with the most complete assessment possible for CUSTOM MADE ORTHOTICS..
Having TOG GaitScan technology at our disposal, we enjoy the most technologically advanced gait analysis system available which places us at the forefront of orthotic therapy.
