It is 25 years since I successfully completed an honours Dip. in Physical Therapy. As well as running a busy multi purpose Physio Clinic in Portlaoise, I have worked with notable GAA clubs in the Midlands including Stradbally, Castletown, Moate, Rathvilly, Myshall and Nenagh, all of whom won County titles. I also worked with the Leinster Railway Cup footballers, the Munster Ladies footballers, UCC, Waterford IT, Mary Immaculate, the Irish Olympic Boxing squad and Carlow senior hurlers and footballers.
Laois football Manager and former All Star, Colm Browne, invited me on board his County senior football backroom team, as head Physical Therapist, in 2001 and I subsequently served under five Laois hurling Managers from 2003 to 2012 as lead Physical Therapist to both the Senior and U/21 squads.
My daughter Fiona works as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the University Hospital, Limerick and my second daughter, Eimear, is pursuing her Physiotherapy career in Saint Neots, Cambridgeshire.
I am proud to be a member of The Irish Association of Physical Therapists. www.iapt.ie ; one of only two Physiotherapy groups to receive accreditation by CORU, the body who Regulate Health and Social Care Professionals.
