Interferential

Interferential electric current therapy is a treatment to aid the relief of pain and the promotion of soft-tissue healing.

Tiny electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the area of the pain. Where these impulses intersect below the surface of the skin, the low-frequency stimulation induces the body to secrete endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain killers.

Most of our patients find Interferential therapy to be very beneficial and describe it as being ‘relaxing’ and having a ‘pins and needles’ sensation.

Muscle and tendon strains, ligament sprains and spasms respond well to this form of therapy.

In short, Interferential therapy reduces painful symptoms, decreases local swelling, helps restore normal movements, releases the body’s natural painkillers and accelerates the healing process.

Note: It is becoming more and more obvious to me that other Therapists are NOT using Physio modalities such as Interferential, Low Level Laser, Ultra Sound, vacuum suction and electro acupuncture when “Treating injuries”, which delays recovery and leads to re-injury. At Laois Injury Clinic, we have these treatment modalities and our results show this.
